I don't have any "*.rom" files too. Am I missing something?
I have a "nes.ini" file... in the folder "ini" that is on the same path as "mess.exe" and "messui.exe" .

Sorry I can't help much yet.
I will look into this problem next time I can play (next weekend) specially because this is not the only NES game chosen for the tournament.

I suggest we extend this round one more week, as long as we come up with the solution within this round, either by finding a workaround, going back to an older version, or ultimately switching to another emulator.

Said that, in this particular case, and at risk of being labeled as the ultimate complainer Embarassed, I'd rather change the game to another one more tournament-friendly. Let me explain, this game is fun to play (great game, I've played the MSX version also, best pinball game for MSX) but a single game could very well last for 3 hours once you get the hang of it. Not a good choice for a tournament, in my opinion. Anyway, we can discuss this later if you want.

In case we agree on switching to another game for this round, we could try Kirby's Pinball Land for the gameboy. It is another pinball game by HAL with multiple screens, very similar to Rollerball. Has anyone ever played it? Is it too long as Rollerball?

Looks fun to play, check it out:

Of course we need to look into the playback problem before deciding anything, because it could be affect gameboy and other systems as well.

Well that's a bit of a situation here... the situation being that both Spaceman and I have had no problems playing back our recordings. I guess the question is would Spaceman have wound up beating me by the time Saturday came around?

But I'm thinking as far as MJS's side of the bracket, if you want to replace Rollerball with Kirby's Pinball Land, I guess that would work... my side of the bracket can take a week vacation, so to speak. Smile

I agree in extending and replacing by other pinball (hard to find pinballs potentially not so long, but the idea would be fine).

Uploaded a Kirby's recording.
Playback works fine here.
Please check.

However, no matter if this works or not, we still have to decide what to do with NES. Next round is another NES game.

Well there is another emulator that plays NES games fine... FCEUX I believe it's called... we probably should make that emulator allowable, although it's an emulator that's utilized for TAS's, I think the chances of anybody taking advantage of their features is about one in a googleplex. Smile

Thanks gb9.

Question about gameboy competitions. Are we allowed to use gbcolor instead of gb for GB-Regulation Play?

Because now I see there's a separate competition for GBC-Regulation Play but Kirby's pinball is not listed there.

I don't see why you can't use gbcolor, personally...

OK - I did find one reason. When I start a gbcolor instance, I get nothing but a black screen...

Strange, does it work if you playback a recording? Try mine or TRB's.
If it still doesn't work try deleting gbcolor.cfg.
Having old format cfgs sometimes cause problems.

Follow up question on Gameboy competitions.
Do all Gameboy games work on both systems (normal/color)?
If they do, and game behavior is the same for both, I see no reason to keep separated competitions.

Hi guys! Very cool this Kirby's Pinball Land game. Rollerball is also very good, but Kirby was a bit better for competitions. Good game for you MJS! Also for Argentina on Copa America.
