I'm having issues with playback of my own Rollerball recordings.
Most of the time they desync right at the beginning, because the ball is ejected differently.

Is anyone else having problems?
Please check because here in my pc it's happening very often Confused

Gameboy9, does your last recording playback for you?
Doesn't playback for me, the previous one was ok though.

Played a very good game, but it desyncs I'm afraid Crying or Very sad
I don't know if it's a problem on my pc (doubt it because msx, x68000, and other systems work well) but this system, with this game, playback is not consistent.
I playback my recording a few times and I got 3 different results so far. The best I got it to playback is around 800k.
True score is 5,608,720 after the first ball and I quit after that. Did well in quitting otherwise I would still be playing (in vain) :?

Should I upload the recording?

Got it to playback after the 4th try (frameskip 0, throttled).
Uploaded.

To confirm, please try a few times before giving up.
I've never seen a playback problem like this one Shocked

Huh... that's weird. (I unconfirmed your recording before I read this)

My recording played back the first time, as did Spaceman's... so I'll have to try again.

Tried it again with FS=0, and both times it stopped at 2,013,300.

Chad: Yes, watch in the Uploads link in the tournaments section (you must be logged in to see that).

Looks like gb9 (and Barry, because he confirmed his last recording) are not having issues. Must be something wrong on my end?

Strange, though. Because I can record and playback perfectly for other systems (mmm wait, to be honest I haven't tried with 0.142) but here's one more question: how is it that I could get it to playback after many tries? Shocked

yep i can confirm gameboy's but not yours mjs. did you ever figure out the reason we could NOT playback Gapporin's newer MSX rollerball recording but playback the old one?

http://www.homeactionreplay.org/gameinfo.php?gameid=3894

This might be related. But probaly not, since i think it's a changed bios issue. HOWEVER, if no bios changed then maybe there's a mess option installed or was set in 142 that is messing stuff up for older recordings or maybe if nes is related, any other person not using that option like me and gb9 and barry?

I can't pb consistently my own INPs! My 12,550 test INP (a very short one, where I hold the right flipper in the end of the recording), most of the pb's runs differently here! Chad confirmed, and mahlemiut too. Here throttling or not, fullscreen or not, NoSound... I tried many combinations but I can't figure out exactly what I need to do to pb my INP correctly. Very odd.

I'm using WolfMESS 0.142, GUI version, I think all default settings. I tried on wm138 and the result seems the same.

Once (just once) I pb'ed correctly Spaceman 865,320 INP. About MJS and gameboy9 I never got to pb properly.

Mahlemiut helped me in some other issues about wm, but these playback issues continue... Rolling Eyes

Hopefully everyone is using the right dump, there are numerous ones listed in nes.hsi.
This should be the right one though:
Code:
<hash crc32="69635a6e" sha1="1453664ef61ed1f4c1ea49f0956362472704bb73" name="Rollerball (U)">

Maybe it's time to switch to software lists where possible...? Or does no one have (or can be bothered with) the required split PRG/CHR ROMs?

Hash? If it's related to the "hash" folder on wolfmess directory, I have only these files there:
aes.xml
apple2.hsi
msx.hsi
x68000.hsi

And about the CRC, my "Rollerball (U) [!].nes" file is E45A440D (according to 7-Zip software... I don't know if it's the right one, or the right way to check it). Confused

Let me know if it help...

I uploaded a 518,000 INP.

I am pretty sure it's something related to the nes.ini file, the lines:
Code:
# CORE STATE/PLAYBACK OPTIONS
...
playback                  TRB_Rollerball-NES_518000_wm142.inp
record

Everytime I record or playback, these lines are changed, being one the name of the file recorded/pb'ed and the other line changed to <blank>. Generally only the 1st time (after recording) I pb it correctly, being the 2nd time incorrectly.
When I put "any value" to both lines, and try to pb, it pb ok. Sometimes leaving both values as <blank> it's ok too. And if I pb or record, then I didn't change the values, i have pb problems.

@ MJS, try some combinations here and let me know if you confirm or discover something.

It's sad to waste the little time I'd have to play trying to deal with problems... but probably it's similar to Gapporin issue in the last week... too bad.

yeah 69636a6e does not equal e45a440d (It should be Rollerbal (U) too no [!] and actually my (U) is e45a440d as well) so it might be a software selection issue! a use of software lists documents would be usefull. how do users use them? and this (maybe a harp championship hash list) would resolve all software difference issues because it wouldn't run if it wasn't in the list?
