to ensure console roms are mapped to the correct harp game i was going to check some gameboy and cpc roms against the clrmame dat files. But i just went there and they dont have any console dat files for download. Does anyone know where to get dat files to rename roms to their "good" name for gameboy/nes/cpc? And if peopel don't use clrmame, how would they do it?

Just use GoodCPC. I use v2.02. It's a DOS program, but as it's commandline only, it runs fine under NT.

Same thing for Gameboy... GoodGB is the best way to go. In fact, that's our naming scheme for both GB and CPC (and A2600, A5200, A7800, NES, SNES...)
