playsback ok with wolfmess119, nvram monitoring required. Shouldn't there be a wolfmame distribution nvram disabler by default?

For WolfMAME, use the included record.bat and playback.bat. They work good for MESS too, with a small amount of modification.

true, I guess i thought it might be easy to insert an unlink() when first reading an nvram file (I think you can check this at the os level even) and -allownvram is off. I guess that would be dangerous if you put roms in the nvram directory or the roms somehow got interpreted as nvram files :)

Probably a better idea to stick with MAME file I/O functions, instead of OS specific ones, at least for the sake of portability.
