Assuming we now have a stable version of WolfMESS... the following rule changes will now take effect:

Because WolfMESS is a competition emulator, if you choose to play a game using MESS, then you MUST use the WolfMESS variation. That means there are several systems where WolfMESS is now REQUIRED. (because MESS was the only emulator allowed in the first place)

WolfMESS is now allowed for the NES Competition. It will NOT be the required emulator, however.

WolfMESS remains PROHIBITED in the ZX Spectrum competition at this time. If I'm not mistaken, there are better emulators than that... and I'm not sure that they do Z80 files either.

Skito, please mention the differences between regular MESS and WolfMESS for those who are not familiar... preferably on wolfmess.homeactionreplay.org - Thanks! Smile

yes indeed, i put the differences in the exe as wolfmame109.txt and will do that at the top of the wolfmess page as soon as i am told what to rename the file to make it dothat :)

Also if there are any issues with wolfmess (there are and will be more!) please message me.

Code:

wolfmess derived from the wolfmame patches and these other fixes.

!!!!! wolfmess109 !!!!!!!!

*
Added Patch for apple2 - Serpentine to make playable and added has for
Serpentine compilation image.

*
Added messgui Software picker fix so that when you select an item in the
picker it always mounts the first device of that type instead of only
replacing the last image.

*
Added fix for Remapping keys using the menu.  This was broken in the mess109
standad build, probably to fix something but i reverted it so you could
use the remap keys dialog.

Good job on WolfMESS Chad! Cool
I tested it with MSX and it seems to be working fine.

Too bad I won't be able to use it for MSX2 because of this throttling issue I'm having with my pc. I already reported the bug so let's see if they can fix it. It is not a WolfMESS specific issue.

For the time being I'll have to use WolfMESS 0.109 for MSX1 and stick to standard MESS 0.106 for MSX2.

Thanks for your work, and of course Barry for WolfMAME.

thx and yep, hats of go to wolfmame, just applying the wolfmame patches to the mess build automatically makes it a wolfmess, very easy compiling there, mess had some funky problems that i tried to iron out and added them to the wolfmess build. I'm going to try to do more, specificaly trying to make multiple images possible for playbacking and recoding with out forcing the playbacker to mount images in the middle of the playback. Unfortunatley i don't think i'm capabale of speeding up msx2 emulation unless you know of another emulators code we can cut and paste into mess...

Don't worry Chad, looks like I've found the problem... or well, at least a workaround for my pc! Razz
It was a matter of changing the render resolution dip-switch to "low".
Strange still... Confused
